Firefox is used by over 400 million people as their window onto the web, with over 30% market share. But Firefox is remarkable not only for its success. A distributed global community has organized to effectively compete with corporations like Microsoft, Apple, and Google. Alex Faaborg will discuss Mozilla's design philosophy, the unique process of coordinating user experience design in an open source environment, and the future of Firefox's user interface.

He also contributes to Mozilla Labs, which explores the next stage in the evolution of the Web and its long term future. He has extensive experience in artificial intelligence, user interface design, and cognitive science and is a graduate of the MIT Media Laboratory.
