BayCHI November 2009 features the transition from raw data to visualizations, interactions, and identity.
7-7:30 pm: Coffee, Tea & Socializing
7:30 pm Visualizations of Our Collective Lives
Joy Mountford, Osher Fellow at the Exploratorium, will present 3D movie-like data visualizations. Be warned: surprising insights surface through looking at our 'data life' in new ways, and may compel us to design in different, even better ways.
8:30 pm (Ab)using Identifiers: Indiscernibility of Identity
Ben Gross, doctoral student, Graduate School of Library and Information Science, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, shows how our personal, supposedly anonymous information isn't always private and how identities and expectations shift across networks.
