Would it be totally out of line to try and put together a workshop or something on design thinking? I would be willing to pay to learn from an IDEO or Sanford d.school alumni.

Would anyone else be interested or know any resources that might help?

Hi Chris,

I'm with you on this one but in what context do you want the design thinking to be presented? Industrial design, information design, UX, IX?

I am looking for something exactly like the following video:

I think the context is less important, as the real benefit is learning how to solve a problem as a group. Shouldn't matter if the problem is related to industrial design, or ix, etc. In fact the problem might be solvable by more than one context. The main point, I am most interested in, is the actual process the IDEO and the d.schools are teaching as their design thinking process--especially the group dynamics.

Hello Chris,

Count me in, I am really interested in this Workshop.

By the way link you provided is not working, would you please post it again?

I'm in, and isn't part of the point of "design thinking" is that it involves processes to solve problems regardless of the supporting mechanisms? I mean, IDEO got invited by the gov't of Iceland to help them solve their economic meltdown precisely because of their expertise in unique and objective problem solving.

Anyway, great idea, I'm in.

I took a tour of Stanford's d.school and will probably reach out to one of the professors or fellows.

Hi Chris,

Any news on the possibility of a workshop at the d.school or IDEO? Please keep us posted.

I'm in....Happy to even put something together. Our team at SAP is quite close to Ideo, Stanford d school and HPI. All three are financed by SAP's founder Hasso Platner.

There are 2 kinds of workshops that could work. 1 an overview of the process or 2, a deep dive into a part of the process. There are lots of differnent names for the general steps in the process. The one that is hardest to learn in my estimation is design synthesis where you look for "actionable" insights from research.

I would be currious if we could get several POV's from differnent groups to talk about how they use Design Thinking in their work.

Is there anything I can do to help facilitate this?

This would be great if you are willing to help out. I talked to a couple of people at d.school and they were all too busy. I also agree the synthesis part is, in fact, the most challenging. Maybe we could pick an actual problem and work on it in an accelerated fashion?

Thanks,

Chris
