Sitemaps: Number convention for new screens vs. screen views?

Hi All,

When creating a sitemap, what is your numbering convention for new screens, versus just a different view on the same screen?

For example, if you have a Home page (let's call it 1.0) that has a Filter/Sort function and an Edit function, do you assign a screen number for the Filter/Sort to be 1.1, and the Edit screen to be 1.2? Or, do you make Filter/Sort something like 1.0a and Edit gets 1.1?

Does this make sense? I'm looking for clarity on how to visually represent separating out different screens versus staying on the same screen, but showing different views of it.
