Ashutosh Kaushik 624 Church Street, Ann Arbor, MI - 48104 (408)-410-6980 asherk@umich.edu April 19th, 2009 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to apply for User Experience Architect at Filter and enclose my resume for your consideration. I am a final year Master’s in School of Information at University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, seeking a full time opportunity by May 2009.I am interested in an opportunity with you about which I learned from the internet and your website thereafter. I believe that my background in engineering and experience so far has prepared me well for the challenges posed by a career in Filter. My prior work experience has helped me build certain transferable skills which I believe will help me succeed at Filter. As a graduate intern at General Motors, I was responsible for the designing a User Interface and conduct usability analysis for GM’s in car multi – media center QDR (Quad Dual Rotary). During the process of the project I conducted comparative studies, heuristic analysis, user testing, and market evaluation of vehicle entertainment centers as well as created flow diagrams, general transition networks, personas, scenarios to develop a user-friendly prototype. I was assigned Project Lead based on performance evaluation and was made responsible for leading a development team prior to final gate review. Over the duration of my graduate degree, I have concentrated on Human Computer Interaction and taken courses that concentrate on interaction design and usability evaluation. The position description indicates having knowledge of HCI processes and literature. I have also shown hands on ability to apply the methodologies of interaction design to software development as can be seen through most of my academic projects like SAKAI Group, Hands – On Museum, General Motors which have already been implemented at university or industry level. My academic credentials accentuate my analytical skills, which coupled with my passion for HCI, will hold me in good stead if given an opportunity to work at Filter. I would appreciate an opportunity to discuss my credentials for this position further. Recently I am a part of a project; TalkingPoints which help the blind and visually impaired community by developing a system which integrates an internet connected mobile device, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Tags, and a socially driven online database. The idea of the project is to provide the blind and the visually impaired with relevant information as they approach any location equipped with a TalkingPoints. By this project I am trying to help the blind and the visually impaired community to experience what a normal person experiences while travelling from location A to location B. The enclosed resume and ePortfolio link below outlines my experience to date and highlights my personal strengths. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my experiences and skills I could bring to Filter. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Ashutosh Kaushik ePortfolio: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~asherk/
