*SOLD OUT* The designer’s toolbox has expanded beyond the static mockup and wireframes. By understanding and writing HTML / CSS and collaborating closely with engineers, designers are finding that they can have more control over final outcomes. Join us to hear perspectives on how technology and code factor into the design processes of three User Experience Designers.

Speaking in Code, Susan Lin

Susan will talk about working with engineers using Nicole Sullivan's component library framework to bake good design DNA into every new page on Trulia. She will share examples and stories about what worked and didn’t while figuring out the process.

Susan is a Visual UX Designer at Trulia where she designs the home hunting experience. In addition to UX, she’s contributed to Trulia’s visual library codebase and unofficial chatroom with cute GIFs. @bysusanlin | http://sketch.bysusanlin.com

Designing in Code at GE, Dane Petersen

Dane will share insights from his experience as an embedded UX designer on an agile development team at GE, where he uses a code-based design system to design and build software for jet engines.

Dane is a lead interaction designer at GE, where he has nothing at all to do with microwaves. Previously he was a designer with Adaptive Path where he helped companies strategize and deliver great user experiences. Having worked for years as a front-end developer before discovering design, Dane is passionate about using sketching to rapidly explore design concepts, and then getting dirty in code to make those ideas a reality. @thegreatsunra | http://thegreatsunra.com

From Fireworks to Frameworks, Jason Wilkens

Jason will talk about his journey from creating image-based mockups to designing within the browser. He’ll share the tools and techniques he uses to customize Bootstrap at Bizo.

Jason has been doing UX research and design for enterprises, non-profits, and startups since 2008. He enjoys simplifying complex tasks and making users' lives easier. @jasondwilkens | http://www.bizo.com
