EVENT DESCRIPTION

How Can the Design Community Help Innovate Our Response to the Drought?

Join IxDASF, Field Innovation Team and Spring Studio for an informative and collaborative brainstorm session to help innovate a design-driven response to the drought.

We know what we need to do. There are known technologies to help us store more and use less water. But, four years into the California drought, we are still struggling to find the will to implement these solutions. What stops us from taking actions we know are needed? How do we raise consumer awareness and educate that water is a commodity and not unlimited?

Motivation, behavior and integrating technological and social solutions are our bread and butter as designers. Join us for a loosely-guided brainstorm session to drive innovation in our local response to the drought. We will begin the evening with a brief discussion, including background information on the drought, the design process and how we might frame the problem. We’ll then break into small teams to brainstorm solutions. We’ll come together again at the end of the evening to share insights and ideas. Our insights from the evening will be shared with Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom’s office.
