Join us at the Code for America offices in Downtown San Francisco on Saturday, August 6, 2011. We will be holding the first ever Iconathon event, held in collaboration between Code for America & The Noun Project. This event will set the precedent for other Iconathons happening in other cities throughout August and September 2011.
At this event, designers, artists, city employees, Open 311 experts, developers and others will come together for a facilitated "design charrette," a collaborative brainstorm for generating sketches of selected concepts. San Francisco has the topic of 311.
311 is important because it is the way in which the City of San Francisco accepts requests for service from residents. We are determining a list of concepts that would be helpful to have, and at the Iconathon event, we will generate ideas from some of those concepts. For example, we can develop icons for concepts such as "Abandoned Vehicle" "Illegal Dumping" and "Sidewalk Cleaning." Here is a preview of the process.
As you can see, Bailey will be further developing the Abandoned Vehicle sketches that we did on July 14, 2011.
Expect brilliant creative energy with amazing talented people.
