Peter Merholz, Adaptive Path co-founder and now VP of Global Design at Groupon, is speaking to IxDA SF in April.

Designing in the Diamond Mines

After 10 years at Adaptive Path, and hearing about how companies were embracing design, when Peter Merholz left the world of design services to go in-house, he was surprised to find most people still had an outmoded view of design's role in product development.

In order to explain to others design's full potential, he embraced a model called the Double Diamond. In this talk, Peter will walk you through the Double Diamond, highlighting how it can be used to describe smart design practice, communicate with others, and diagnose faulty work processes.

Given that this is Peter, there will doubtless be tangents and digressions, rants about product management, and exhortations that designers need to take the reins, as no one will give them to you.

The event will be hosted by Adaptive Path at its lovely studio on the water, at Pier 1 just north of the Ferry Building.
